Campaign highlights

Since the start of the campaign in September 2018 there has been lots of activity, from students and staff recording songs to parliamentary debates and petitions. We need to keep the momentum going. Below are some of the highlights so far.

19 JULY 2019 - Education Select Committee report supporting increase of funding

The Education Select Committee have released a report pushing government to create a ten-year plan, with the correct levels of funding for colleges and schools, including reversing the decade of cuts to further education.


27 JUNE 2019 - Joint letter 203 GFE principals

In an unprecedented move, the leaders of every general further education college in England write an open letter to the Chancellor and Secretary of State for Education urging them to respond to the “challenges of technological change and Brexit” by urgently investing in the country’s technical and vocational education system.


29 MAY 2019 - Post-18 Review report published

The report attempts to balance the needs, aspirations and opportunities for every adult and proposes meaningful changes across universities, colleges and skills which are vital to set the country up for the future – including recognition for the vital role of FE colleges.

13 to 17 May 2019 - May Week of Activity

Colleges across the country hosted events and spoke to their local MPs, staff, students and local business partners to demonstrate why the Chancellor should ensure meaningful and sustainable investment of colleges in his comprehensive spending review.

8 FEBRUARY 2019 - Cross-party letter to Chancellor

In a show of political unity, 165 cross-party MPs from four political parties, have co-signed a letter calling on the Chancellor to increase funding for colleges.
