Pledge cards for Colleges Week

We want to show MPs and government how much local support there is for your college and the Love Our Colleges campaign.

We have designed pledge cards for college staff, students and the local community to fill in during Colleges Week. A pledge card is a campaign resource which sets out things you want an MP to do on your behalf to support the college and the campaign. There is space for individuals to fill in their name and postcode. Once completed, you can give the bundle of pledge cards to your local MP.

What to do

  • Print the pledge cards (if possible on card paper)

  • Have as many people as possible sign cards
You could ask staff and students to sign and hand in cards, you could use them at an event you’re already holding or you could get the local community engaged by setting up a stall near your college or in the local town.

  • Take photos for social media
Take lots of photos of the activity for social media. Photos of people signing the cards or with one of the photo props in the resource pack. Have individuals post a photo on their own accounts saying that they have signed the card and include #LoveOurColleges.

  • Delivering the cards (if possible Friday 18 October)
Make sure they are signed and collected back in again. Hand deliver them to your MP taking lots of photos to post on social media. If you’ve already got a meeting planned, make sure you take them along and talk about them.

  • Ask your MP to keep in touch
They should let you know if they have written to the Chancellor or asked a question at Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs)  and they should be in touch to arrange a visit to the college in response to the cards.
